We’re still exploring options for photo management. We have a ton to post and I’m sorry!
Ginger is doing well and is much bigger than you saw in her first appearance. She is now an outside dog – one too many times of her peeing on the carpet! We tried crate training, but it was getting strenuous because one of us would have to go home at lunch to let her out and inevitably we’d have to change our clothes after getting peed on. We also think where we had her was too big. It’s supposed to be just big enough for her to stand up. Ours was big enough for her to walk around a little, not much… but enough that she felt free to go when she felt the urge.
Now we’re dealing with her dragging her bed out of the dog house. That wasn’t too bad actually, until she started playing with it, tore a hole in it and fluff started flying. We considered anxiety, but from what I’ve read that’s typically displayed within minutes of the owner leaving. This sort of thing is happening during the day… so we’re not sure. She has toys and chew things plus she brings any twigs and branches. Planning on asking the vet. Also want to ask about getting her to quit jumping. Taylor had a scratch on her right cheek (by her eye) and now has some on her back.
On the upside, she loves playing with Taylor with the bubble machine outside and she loves sitting in my lap and snuggling.
Taylor stories!
She’s learning when she can appropriately tell us “You’re out of luck” and when’s NOT appropriate. Not Appropriate: “Taylor, I wish you’d pick that up.” “Mama, I think you’re out of luck.” Appropriate: “That light really needs to hurry up and change.” “Mama, I think you’re out of luck.” And yes, she picked the phrase up from us.
She’s also picked up, from me, the frustrated *grr*/*argh* kind of sound and is learning when is appropriate and when is not. Not Appropriate: “Taylor, put your toys away it’s time to go.” <grr/argh sound>. Appropriate: While playing with something and getting frustrated. Though, if she uses it too much while playing, we’ll tell her to put whatever she’s playing with away.
And when she’s not talking, girl is singing! And she’s constantly do either of the two! Poor child’s gonna be in trouble when she starts school. Her daddy & I both got in trouble in school for talking too much. Her singing is neat. She’ll tell a little story and has started adding dance moves. She was singing a “short” song to daddy before bedtime last week. 10 minutes later… :) Lessee… “when we be good, God be happy… when we be bad, God be mad.” She enjoys swapping that to see if we react. Something about following her savior, which I feel positive there are elements of songs she’s learning in daycare and church that are being thrown into “her” songs and I’m fine with that. There are no copyright issues at the moment, right? She’ll also sing about things going on – what she’s doing in the kitchen, when she’s playing with some of her toys and having them “do” things. And if you ask her where she learned a song that she’s made up, she’ll tell you, “God put it in my heart.”
Oh! And her sense of humor – oh my goodness!! Brian took her to the zoo last weekend (I had my toe worked on… went much better this time around, but I still wasn’t supposed to be up and around). They took their seats on the train, and were joined 2 rows back by a couple and their ~7 year old daughter. Her parents told her she was sitting in the middle so the animals couldn’t get her. Daughter didn’t believe them. Brian leaned back and said “Your parents are telling the truth. See what happened to my daughter when we passed the tiger cages last time?” showing off the scratch she got from Ginger. Taylor nodded in agreement. The daughter almost turned white. So he leaned back, conspiratorially, and half-whispered “You want to know another secret?” She tentatively nodded yes, looking obviously concerned. “I’m just teasing you.” Everyone laughs. Taylor turned to Brian and said “We tricked her, Daddy! That was funny.”
And that’s all for now!
