Our Baby is FOUR!!

We woke her up this morning singing the Happy Birthday song. 🙂

She had a very good birthday weekend. She stayed up late Friday after having Pie Day with Kenny & Lauren. That was interesting. Our waitress wasn’t terribly enthusiastic and came up with new places to put “y’all” in a sentence. Repeatedly. I don’t mind “y’all” – I use it a good bit. But never more than once in a sentence. I don’t think. So, not very enthusiastic and so it was a surprise when, upon FINALLY receiving the pie we ordered (Kenny & Lauren share a slice, Brian, Taylor & I share a slice) I see her walk in with 4 plates. I asked because I thought we’d made it clear on the sharing bit and didn’t want to get charged for 2 slices. She had actually taken it upon herself to slice each piece in half for us. We didn’t really want it that way, but it showed some forethought on her part, which was nice.

Taylor’s teacher, Judy, went above and beyond in their beauty shop game. There are a bunch of girls in the class, so they play beauty shop. Come to find out, Taylor sits the most still and turns her head when she’s told. Tonight, her hair was parted in the middle and each side french braided, joining in the back for a pony tail braid. I contemplated making Taylor’s birthday picture appointment for after school!

Saturday – late breakfast. I heard Taylor get up around 9. She walked down the hall and went back to her room. She stood in our doorway, walked in, picked something up (her slippers) then left. Come to find out, she didn’t want to wake us. So, late breakfast. Laundry started. I got cleaned up and went to spend some gift cards. While at one stop I get a text message, “No need for a trike, she’s got the pedals!” We got her a bike last Christmas and she’s had trouble pedaling. We were thinking of a trike this year but my concern was how tall she is. No need! Just in time, she got the hang of the pedals! Daddy gets her padded up and takes her for her first bicycle ride, which was rudely interrupted by her first bicycle crash. She’s fine. While Daddy’s raking and working, they find a lizard. They put him in a shoebox and Taylor found some leaves for him and a capful of water. We let him go after I got home – Taylor really really wanted to show him to me. When asked, her favorite part of the day was the lizard. No, we’re not in the market for that kind of pet. Thanks. 🙂

Sunday, church. Brian’s new bass was debuted in the praise team. It was my first Sunday not being in it and I was very happy to see that a girl that had been in it before us came back. I left b/c we feel it’s important for Taylor to be in church and learn how to sit quietly in it. She wasn’t doing well sitting by herself and while some adults and other parents have offered to sit with her, it’s never really worked out (either they go to the nursery or Taylor’s not wholly comfortable with the person). That may be an option later. For now, she’s in the pew with mama.

Sunday night we let Taylor open her birthday present. We got her the movie, Cars. Brandon from daycare has brought it and she’s watched it and loves it to the point that she’s asked for that to be her party theme. We let her open it last night, though, because tonight is her first night back at dance class and we just thought it would be cruel to say, “Here’s your birthday present, sorry, you can’t watch it.” And, of course, we watched it. My favorite line – Tater gets a ride in a helicopter at the end and flies off yelling, “I’m happier’n a tornaduh in a trailer park!”

As I said earlier, we woke her up this morning with the birthday song. Cupcakes were taken to daycare. The camera was also left with the teacher – they told us that if we left them a camera, they’d take pictures of her throughout the day. I can’t wait to see them!
