Sci-Quest with the cousins

During last weekend’s trip to Huntsville, we met Mike and crew at Sci-Quest, a fun “science center” for kids. After a pizza lunch, the kids were unleashed…

Michael rides in the tornado room. the tornado would have been far more impressive if they’d clean the air vent once in a while. Oh well.

Amy and Abby ride the earthquake simulator.

Ariel, Amy & Taylor ride on a magnet-propelled swing.

That’s right, teach ’em to vacuum early.

Vacuuming and plumbing are great skillsets for a 1 year old. Maybe he can help Grandpa re-plumb their house. He’d have an easier time under the house.

Abby, just hanging out.

It’s a giant-sized Operation table.

Ariel and Taylor prepare for surgery.

Shouldn’t we all have a bin for spare body parts? I could use a spare hot-swappable back.

I’m not letting her get anywhere near me with those things. I like all my body parts where they are. This seems far more dangerous than the the last time they played doctor.

Then again, there could be a definite advantage in having a doctor for a daughter.

Inside the block room.

Also known as the jumping-off-the-wall room.

Who’s up for some swimming?

OK, so this place isn’t just for the little kids.

Comments

  1. OK, so since I just found out that Kenny sent this post to a friend of his whose husband works at Sci-Quest, I have another message:

Fix the remote-controlled robotic arms! That made the kid in me very upset. At least the Sprocket Center has one of those that works properly. Come on, you’re letting your neighbor show you up.

  2. Well, I can proudly say that I work at the Sprocket Center myself, so I can say with some pronounced bias that our robotic arm is indeed superior. This is why you should have visited us in the first place!

Although my husband no longer works there (he’s a network admin at another business now), he did explain to me why the tornado booth didn’t work. Apparently there is a component of the booth that was too expensive to replace, so they replaced it with something that didn’t cost as much, but also didn’t work as well. Although the air filter was clogged, this part is was apparently causes the rightous tornadic suckage that was lacking during your visit. I was disappointed too.
