Patience? With our Senate?

I normally don’t get too political on here, but since Twitter is down at the moment, the blog will have to do.

Because our bumbling Senate refused to get off their duffs and actually do any work on the final day, Gov. Riley will have to call a special session to get the school budgets passed.

School systems, heading into the summer with no guarantee of funding, will have to lay off many non-tenured positions to keep within budget.

Gov Riley this afternoon just came out to plead to these employees about to lose their jobs: “Please don’t go find new jobs. Have patience with us.

With this Senate?!? The same Senate who couldn’t get a single bill (other than their own pay raise, naturally) through on the final days because they couldn’t agree on a $10 mil difference in college funding?

With $4 gas and grocery prices rising every day, asking laid-off teachers and staff to not look for a job is unconscionable. For those well-qualified teachers and staff laid off, I wish you the best of luck in finding employment so you can provide for yourself and your families. I regret that my daughter won’t have the opportunity to learn from you.

Climbing down off my soapbox now. And yes, I’m still sore that the Senate didn’t even discuss the Free the Hops bill.
