Soccer is over and we are thrilled to finally be able to sleep in on Saturday again. We doubt we’ll do soccer again. We’re not sure what happened. She did great the first game and then every other game, she was “tired” during the game and had no trouble running to where the snacks were after the game. Granted, it was during all this that her asthma was found, but still. We’ll see.
So, soccer is over, hallelujah! She’s been asking for dance and we knew that we didn’t want to do both at the same time. We also knew we didn’t want to go back to the same place as last year, so a few weeks ago I began calling the two other places near us. One lost out because 1) they were too far away, 2) they were a pain to get on the phone and 3) well, their classes were full. We’re at Dale Serrano and really liked it. We went to last night’s class (it was free!) and Taylor picked it back up as if she’d never left! Okay, so she was a little shy at first but after a warm-up period, she was going great. From observing that one class, Brian & I both believe she’ll actually be getting more instruction here. We like that. We also took advantage of a costume sell to get some dress-up stuff to replace the ones she can no longer fit into. One funny: I was looking in a box that had race car driver costumes when Brian leaned over, “That’s the $15 box…” Me: “Oh!” *shuffle over to $3 and $1 boxes. Heh. Still tempted, though, especially after her past comments of wanting to be a princess race car driver.
The instructor’s son & daughter were there and they are QUITE the salespeople! Her daughter helped Taylor find tap and ballet shoes. She also let Taylor pick what style leotard to get. When we found out how much they wanted for the leotard, we asked if it HAD to be theirs. As long as it’s pink, we’re good. She put it away with, “Maybe you’ll get it for Christmas, Taylor!” Yeah. Her son, working the costume sale, was offering free headbands with every purchase.
That night was also measurement night for recital costumes! So, I have a number to call to work out the deposit that was due 3 days ago and to let them know we’ll be starting in November (no class next week, but we’re invited to come to the party!)
We also found it amusing how many parents had been at the same studio we were at last year. We shared war stories… it was great fun. 🙂
She can be a race car princess with her mommy who wanted to be a nurse queen. Hey, anything is possible!!
